Uncovering new business

Following introductions from UK Trade & Investment Defence Security Organisation, Forensic Telecommunications Services has developed close relationships with new clients in Hong Kong

With so much of today’s communication taking place over the phone and on email, it’s not surprising that the key to cracking many crimes lies in the perpetrator’s mobile phone. Police, law enforcement and security agencies increasingly rely on sophisticated techniques to access data hidden in mobile devices. That’s where Forensic Telecommunications Services (FTS) comes in. The Kent-based company specialises in the extraction and analysis of data from telephones, cellular networks, laptops and other forms of mobile computing and communications technology.

Founded in 2000, FTS started off working with UK police forces to track the movements of suspects, using mobile phone network data. In the years since, the company has expanded its business and now provides a catalogue of digital forensic services to its customers, as well as software development and sales. Its 65 employees are spread between two labs in Kent and Cheshire.

“We are a pioneer in the field of mobile phone forensics, achieved by our R&D team working hand-in-hand with engineers and investigators to ensure knowledge and tools are at the forefront of technology,” says Russell Brewis, Business Development Executive at FTS. “We recently developed a ground-breaking technique called Chip Off to recover data from damaged or locked handsets, which is unique in our field. We are an independent company with industry relevant ISO accreditations, and as a result our reports are well-respected by both law enforcement and the courts.”
