Panama's economy in 2008 (9.3%) was among the fastest growing in Latin America and it is still a hot destination for foreign investment. Total foreign direct investment (FDI) for 2008 was US $2.41 billion, 25% up from the year before. Overall, Central America is the fifth-largest market for UK exports to Latin America.
