Panama's economy in 2011 (10.6%) was the fastest growing in Latin America and it is still a hot destination for foreign investment. Total foreign direct investment (FDI) for 2011 was US $2.79 billion, 20% up from the year before. Overall, Central America is the fifth-largest market for UK exports to Latin America.
