USA – Automotive – Energy Efficient Automotive Technologies Opportunity
Earlier this year the US established a new national program to improve fuel economy and reduce greenhouse gas emission for passenger cars and light trucks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a joint rule to improve fuel economy to an average of 35.5mpg for model year 2016 vehicles.
Later this summer the US will also issue standards for fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions on medium and heavy duty trucks, which will come into force for 2014 models.
An opportunity exists to supply energy efficient automotive technologies and expertise to the US automotive industry. The supply chains are changing as companies search for new technologies and an opportunity exists to build new partnership and relationships.
