USA – Interest to Import British Kit Cars
UKTI Chicago has learnt of an Illinois based performance engine company that is keen to import British kit/replica cars, without engines/transmissions, for building and selling to US customers.
The engine company would work with another Illinois based company, that specialises in rebuilding classic cars and hot rods, to build the cars ready for sale to the general public or dealers.
By removing the engine shipping costs then the retail price of the vehicles can be greatly reduced. Also, by fitting with US standard engines then compliance issues are easier to overcome and spares/servicing costs are reduced.
In the local area there is a private members racetrack that can be used to showcase vehicles in front of a target audience and build a “make” following.
The engine company is also interested in sourcing authentic British engine parts and specifications for separate business interests.
