The Philippines with over 98 million people is one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia and one of the largest English- speaking countries in the world. The economy grew by 6.6% in 2012 and prospects for 2013 are upbeat following the recent BBB- investment grade rating by rating agency Fitch.
The UK has good trade relations with the Philippines with £332m exports of goods in 2012 – a 17% increase. The UK has been the largest investor for the past decade in the Philippines with combined investments of USD 12 billion (£7.8 billion) from 1999-2010.
