Let there be light!

Company Name: DFx Technology

From its base in Oxfordshire, DFx Technology designs and manufactures industrial control, communications and lighting equipment for many different market sectors throughout the world. It has had considerable success at home in the UK. In fact, an estimated 90 per cent of the fount lighting in pubs and bars across the UK is made by the company.

In recent years, DFx has expanded into more general LED strip lights, focusing specifically on energy saving products. Its huge range of lighting products is now used domestically as under-shelf and in-cupboard lighting, and commercially in fridges, vehicles and caravans. In 2009, DFx began to consider business opportunities outside the UK.

“Our design range was doing really well in the UK, and we knew that our products are universal and suitable for a global market,” says Liz Wyn-Davies, Managing Director of DFx Technology.

“At around that time, an International Trade Adviser from UK Trade & Investment got in touch with us. He helped us to decide which would be the best markets to tackle. After a few general meetings where we discussed the various options, and the range of support UK Trade & Investment had to offer, we decided to commission Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) reports for France, the Nordics and Ireland.”
