Chief Engineer A380 programme, Airbus UK
Profile
John is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Chartered Engineer. He also has an honours degree in mechanical engineering from Brunel University.
In 2009 John became Chief Engineer A380 for Airbus UK. In this role he is responsible for the technical activity carried out on the wing, landing gear and fuel management system.
Between 2001 and 2009 John was the Vice President of Engineering at Messier-Dowty Ltd, a leading supplier of landing gear systems to the world’s aircraft manufacturers. John was responsible for the engineering office in the UK and for technical activity undertaken throughout the world for Airbus, their largest customer.
Before joining Messier-Dowty he worked for Airbus as the UK Chief Engineer on the A330/340 programme, and as Chief Systems Engineer.
These roles have given him first hand experience of the issues of being a supplier and customer within the aerospace industry. Specifically the challenges of competing in an international market where engineering talent and capability are key differentiators.
