The UK is an international hub for film in the digital age, working in partnership and collaboration with counterparts around the globe. Its excellence in technical innovation and the depth and expertise of its skills and services make the UK a world-class production partner at home or abroad.

  • The UK is one of the few places in the world that are recognised to have all the skills, equipment and technologies required to produce major Hollywood films.

  • Inward investment from international filmmakers, such as the major Hollywood studios locating productions in the UK, brought over £1 billion into the UK economy in 2011, the highest total ever recorded. Inward investment titles included Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Jack the Giant Killer, Prometheus, Skyfall, Snow White and the Huntsman, World War Z and Wrath of the Titans.

  • Co-productions with international filmmakers were worth £60 million in 2011.Titles included 360, Good Vibrations, Shadow Dancer and StreetDance2 3D. (1)

  • The UK is internationally renowned for its expertise in film visual effects, taking a growing share of the global market. UK post-production houses landed contracts for almost all of the major recent US-made visual effects blockbusters, such as Avatar, 2012 and Cloverfield. (3)
