UK energy excellence marketing strategy

The UK has great energy companies and the strategy aims to position the UK as a destination of choice for energy.

UKTI launched the UK Energy Excellence Marketing Strategy in December 2007. The strategy’s aim is to provide a single compelling voice across the world, extolling the UK as the destination of choice for energy trade and investment.

Specific aims of the Strategy are: extending expertise across energy sub-sectors; increasing R&D capability; enhancing the UK’s international reputation; contributing to a rise in investment and trade, job creation, increased revenues and improved customer satisfaction.

For the purposes of the strategy, UK Energy encompasses: biomass (derived from animal and vegetable products), fuel cells, geothermal sources, hydrocarbons, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar, tidal, wave and wind.

One of the strategy’s main outputs is the UK Energy Excellence website (www.ukenergyexcellence.com), which offers a unique, high-profile, access point to overseas buyers and investors, connecting the world to the UK energy industry. At the same time it supports the international marketing efforts of UK companies by providing a range of online marketing resources.

Another key output of the Strategy is the unified UK Energy Brand. This overall brand, along with a framework of associated messaging, unites all of the UK energy sector’s skills and capabilities within one distinctive identity.

The UK Energy Brand gives the UK industry greater focus, more consistency of message and makes the breadth of our professionalism and expertise more apparent. That expertise is world-class and comes with a global commitment to human and environmental protection. Any company that uses the UK Energy Brand will be aligning itself with the key UK strengths of Innovation, Quality, Adaptability, Sustainability and Knowledge, while declaring to the world that they are part of a world-beating UK team.

The UK Energy Excellence Marketing Strategy complements existing UK strategies for areas such as manufacturing, advanced engineering and the low-carbon economy, which seek to address some of the main challenges facing the UK energy sector.
