Anil Vaidya – UKTI Sector Specialist

Anil Vaidya is a part time consultant to the government department UK Trade & Investment and is responsible for advising companies and government on commercial developments in the healthcare and bio/pharma sectors in the Far East, Asia Pacific and Asian markets. He is a Japanese specialist with experience of also working and setting up companies in the UK, USA, Japan and India. Anil has lead a number of high-level business delegations overseas as well as having facilitated in a number of commercial developments between the UK, the Far East and India. Until recently Anil was also the CEO and founder of Iatro Medical Systems Ltd, a medical imaging core lab company.

Dr Kevin Doughty – UKTI Sector Specialist

Most recently, Kevin has become a Telecare/health consultant for the Telecare Services Association, the trade organisation for telehealthcare supply and delivery companies, for whom he has developed best practice guides and improved delivery methods including the uptake of innovative technologies such as mCare and mHealth. He is the Telecare associate editor of the Journal of Assistive Technology for which he has written extensively on new devices and services to support primary and community care planning and service. He joined UKTI as an e-healthcare specialist in January 2012.

Kevin Wilson – UKTI Sector Specialist

Kevin brings substantial experience from the commercial life sciences sector to assist in internationalizing UK companies, whether multinational or SME. He has widespread experience of the medical technology/healthcare sector having over 30 years’ experience with MedTech organizations including senior manager and board level positions with Johnson & Johnson, NMT Safety Products and AorTech Critical Care. His focus is on medical technologies and healthcare. Kevin has a degree in Business Organisation and includes a mini MBA in Medical Technology Management from University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis amongst his other qualifications. Kevin is a GlobalScot and also a Director of Innova Partnerships Ltd, a life science investment and partnering company.

Louise Shearer – UKTI Sector Specialist

Louise Shearer has over 25 years of experience of marketing and commercial management in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. She held a number of senior strategic marketing roles within AstraZenca and GSK and was instrumental in the development of the commercial arm of Amgen in the UK and Ireland, becoming General Manager and a member of the European Management Team. Louise has also worked with university spin-out enterprises and SMEs to identify commercialisation strategies for medical technologies. Most recently, Louise built the online healthcare market research division of Doctors.net.uk Ltd to become a leading supplier of market research to life sciences organisations.

Currently a part time consultant to UKTI, Louise Shearer is the International Marketing Specialist within the UK Life Sciences team. She works across the pharma, biotech, medical technology and healthcare sectors and a broad range of stakeholders to position the UK life sciences sector internationally. She is also leading the life sciences programme to create a business legacy from the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Mark Otto Smith – UKTI Sector Specialist

Mark Otto Smith is a business development and commercial management professional with over 20 years of experience in international sales of scientific instrumentation and ICT products, as well as commercial management within the UK health sector.

Mark has managed bids, supplier relationships and commercial aspects of delivery of healthcare IT and transformation as part of programmes of up to £1 billion contract value. He also has recent experience managing service development and commercial strategy for a National Health Service (NHS) provider of clinical services in London.

Richard Porter currently leads on UK Trade & Investment’s health work in both India and Brazil. Through programmes of pro-active engagement with British businesses, including high profile receptions and business events, we have helped British companies export to these complex and hard to navigate markets.
