Yorkshire and the Humber Passport to Export goes international

On 15 and 16 June 2010 the Regional Introduction to Passport to Export Workshop was held overseas with the UKTI Team based in Warsaw, Poland.

A diverse group of seven companies from the Yorkshire and the Humber Region, all of whom are new and novice exporters, travelled to Warsaw where the workshop was delivered at the Embassy. As part of the introduction session companies were also given an overview of the Polish economy and key sectors in the market. Following the Market Research presentation staff from the Team in Warsaw joined in the discussion by providing good practical examples of OMIS work they had carried out on behalf of UKTI companies, and they also offered practical advice to the companies on how to get the most out of this service. The group also heard how the British Polish Chamber of Commerce support companies who may be looking set up a business in the future.

The main purpose of holding the workshop overseas was to give companies a better insight in to how the UKTI Regional and Overseas network work together to support them as they develop their International Trade Strategy for growth. Gary Sunderland, of Carbonite Pro Ltd said “This has been an excellent trip for me. The workshop was packed with practical advice, I had a really useful business meeting, I’ve found the perfect place to launch my product in Poland and I know the Warsaw team will help me make the best of the opportunities there”

Further overseas activity specifically aimed at Passport to Export and Gateway to Global Growth companies are being developed
