Leading Tech Firm Sets Up in London
Kaltura, a successful growth-stage company, is backed by a number of prominent investors including Intel Capital.
Leah Belsky, Vice President & General Manager Europe, Middle East and Africa, said:
“Kaltura started exploring the UK market a year ago with a few consultants. Given the rapid growth and potential we saw with the UK broadcasters, universities and enterprises, we recently decided to invest heavily in Europe, opening a new London headquarters right next to Tech City, with a full operational, community, and sales team.”
The firm has already recruited 15 staff mainly in operational, development and sales roles and its technology is already in use with AstraZeneca, SAP, Siemens and Durham University, among others.
Gordon Innes, CEO of London & Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional organisation for London, said:
“The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson has confirmed his number one priority to be securing jobs for Londoners and driving economic growth since taking up a second term. We are therefore committed to securing international business such as Kaltura, which will invest in the city and continue to improve the economic outlook but also provide future employment opportunities for Londoners.”
International firms increasingly see London as the world’s capital for business, with unrivalled access to a talented workforce, capital markets and the world’s most creative capital, where ideas and trends are born.
Eric Van der Kleij, chief executive of Tech City Investment Organisation, said:
“This announcement is great news. Kaltura will be able to take advantage of the lively tech scene just a mile or two away with an astonishing array of talent and creativity. The technology scene is dynamic and growing and it is good news that Tech City was one of the draws that attracted Kaltura to London.”
Nick Baird, chief executive of UK Trade & Investment, said:
“This is a great example of different organisations coming together to market London to a potential investor. London & Partners has provided detailed information on setting up in London and Tech City Investment Organisation has helped provide information on the technology sector and what they can offer.”
