Chinese International Capital Corporation

China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC) was the first joint venture investment bank in China.

When looking for a European base with strong banking and commercial credentials, the company considered the UK to have the most distinguished markets. In preparation for a trip to London, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in Beijing invited the company to seminars, where it learned about UK regulations, the investment environment and the procedure for visa applications.

While CICC was in the UK, UKTI made helpful introductions to local consultants, service providers and suppliers. CICC UK was established in August 2009, and received permission from the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to carry on regulated activities in the UK in February 2010. In December that year, UKTI helped to organise CICC Group’s 15th anniversary celebrations, the first major event for the London office.

“Setting up our UK business would not have been as smooth as it was without the help we received from UKTI and other UK friends,” says Shaojing Tan, Senior Associate of China International Capital Corporation (UK) Limited. “We are very grateful for their involvement in our 15th anniversary celebrations and we look forward to further cooperation with them in the future.”
