The UK Special Representative for International Trade & Investment
HRH The Duke of York has been the UK Special Representative for International Trade and Investment since 1 October 2001. His role includes promoting UK business internationally, marketing the UK to potential inward investors, and building relationships in support of UK business interests.
The Duke’s unique position gives him unrivalled access to members of royal families, heads of state, government ministers and chief executives of companies. He is able to reaffirm the importance the UK attaches to bilateral relationships at the very highest levels; to lobby on behalf of British business.
He also opens doors for British business, brings together groups of senior business people to raise the profile of British business and promotes the UK as an attractive destination for inward investment.
The Duke undertakes a wide range of activities in his role as the UK Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. This includes overseas visits to support British business and promote the UK as a springboard for global growth.
He also carries out a number of business-focused visits in the UK regions and speaks at high-profile conferences and events. His programme complements UKTI’s strategy, supporting priority sectors in markets of strategic importance.
