Outward Secondments

This programme involves secondments of UK Trade & Investment UKTI - BIS and FCO - staff to a private sector company or trade body. Secondments can be for 6 months to 2 years.

This interchange programme is aimed at junior, middle and senior managers and tends to focus largely on international trade and investment. Secondees can be involved in areas of work such as helping companies explore new markets, navigate Government, develop business policies and strategies and to work on specific sectoral initiatives and/or projects.

Benefits for UK Companies

Companies benefit from the programme by gaining access to key contacts in UKTI. They gain up to date information about a particular overseas market and the services available from government. They have an opportunity to draw on the international business experience of a government employee and to get a fresh perspective on their own operations.

Benefits for UKTI Staff

UKTI benefits by establishing relationships with industry and key influencers, whilst developing key members of the organisation. By placing staff in the private sector UKTI gains business experience that can't be found or taught within the public sector.
