Business people in a meeting
What is the UK Advisory Network?
It was recognised that Government and the private sector working closely together enabled support for investors to be provided in a more seamless way. UKTI has worked with private sector experts for many years but we are conscious that in a rapidly changing world we need to constantly improve our game and provide investors with better access to that expert knowledge through a smoother transition from Government to private sector support. The UK Advisory Network was launched in Nov 07 to better achieve that transition.
The Network is made up of members from a number of service sectors. They have specific expertise with investors and companies developing their business overseas, and are actively engaged in these processes. Investors can explore the potential for investment in the UK and make setting up easier. UK companies can obtain valuable advice and support to help them succeed outside the UK. As a single point to find the right contacts the Network ensures support can be easily found when it is needed.
For their part members can feed back to UKTI about issues affecting their business environment, which is then fed into Government policy makers in Treasury and elsewhere. This knowledge-sharing is essential to ensure trade and investment continue to thrive; enrichment of Government contact with the private sector through the likes of the UK Advisory Network can only but help in the process.
Network objectives:
Enriched partnerships between Govt and the private sector
High quality support for investors and UK companies seeking to grow overseas
Collaboration to better understand the UK's competitive position in both trade and investment
Forum for feedback on issues affecting the business environment in the UK and elsewhere
Better transition between Government and private sector support
More business for member
