UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC)

The GDP of ASEAN markets is over $2 trillion, growing at over 5% and the UK already exports in excess of $15 billion to the region – the UKABC aims to capitalise on this potential.

Launched by Dr Vince Cable in November 2011, the UKABC has been established, under the Chairmanship of Lord Davies of Abersoch with an Advisory Panel of 12 companies currently doing business in ASEAN.

The UKABC aims to get more businesses trading with ASEAN by targeting key businesses and decision makers from ASEAN and connecting them with UK businesses.

Lord Davies: "I had no hesitation in accepting Lord Green's invitation to chair the newly formed UK-ASEAN Business Council. Alongside China and India, ASEAN represents amazing opportunities for UK business. This is where we are seeing growth. Working with an Advisory Panel, all of whom know how to operate and succeed in these markets, the job of the UKABC is to make sure that UK business has the opportunity to work with those key players in these South East Asia markets who are really making those economies tick."

ASEAN Countries:

Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam
