HRH The Duke of York visits Mexico – February 2010

HRH The Duke of York visited Mexico from 9 – 12 February. During the visit, The Duke inspected a consignment of new armoured Land Rovers for the Mexican Navy, the first export of its kind.

He visited British ceramics company, Morgan Crucible, which established a subsidiary in Mexico over 50 years ago, and also launched the 2010 Young Creative Entrepreneur Award in Mexico, which seeks to create a network of contacts between Mexico and the UK in an event to promote the UK's creative industries.

HRH spoke to an audience of 400 business people on UK / Mexico trade. The Duke also launched a "Mexico Matters" campaign which organisations from both countries have joined up to. The campaign seeks to recognise the present and future importance of Mexico and to encourage UK business to seek out business opportunities. The campaign is being mirrored in Mexico with a "Think Britain" campaign which aims to get Mexican partners to consider the opportunities that the UK presents them with.
